SELF-CARE TIPS FOR NEW MUMS

Every mum needs to realise that self-care is important. Self-care isn’t just for a certain group of people in the society; it is for everyone.
If you are a new mum, you might be struggling with self-care, and we have curated some effective self-care tips for you.

1. Purchase some postpartum clothes: Your maternity clothes may not fit you anymore, so you may need some postpartum clothes that would suit your current body size and even grow with you as your body adjusts back to your normal size. Dress your best!

2. Get your hair done: No jokes! Few months after you have had your baby, schedule that hair appointment and get your hair done to your satisfaction. Take out time to beautify your hair.

3. Exercise: Ask your doctor the best time to start exercising after delivery and also the relatively safe exercises you can do, then incorporate it into your routine.

4. Have fun: Find out the things you love doing for fun and set out time for them. It could be listening to your favourite podcast, music, audiobook or simply hanging out with friends?

5. Get a network of support: It could be your trusted friends, family, or those around you who can help you with little tasks or activities when needed. Recognise the fact that you cannot do it all on your own.

6. Eat Good Food: Don’t feast on junks. Eat good food and snack on fruits. Make it a habit to always drink water and stay hydrated; it is good for the skin and organs. You need to do this for you and your baby.

7. Take it easy on yourself: Do not go too hard on yourself; take it easy. Remind yourself that you are doing the best that you can.

8. Take care of your hygiene: Just because you are taking care of your baby does not mean you should neglect your wellbeing. When you take care of your hygiene; you feel good about yourself.

9. Get as much sleep as you can: As much as you can, get enough sleep so that you don’t strain your mental health.

10. Be you: Just because you are a new mum doesn’t mean you should neglect ‘you’. Keep being you and don’t lose your identity and that unique part of you.
